Toyota's luxury division offers several upgraded products for 2007. Topping the list is the redesigned LS 460, the automaker's flagship sedan. It replaces last year's LS 430. As the name suggests, the V-8 engine is enlarged from 4.3 to 4.6 liters. Output is a lofty 380 hp, meaning the LS should give Mercedes-Benz's 382-hp S550 and BMW's 360-hp 750i a run for their money. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes standard, something no competitor can boast.

At the other end of the showroom, the entry-level ES 350 sedan enters its fifth generation. It draws its platform -- and much of its styling -- from Toyota's Camry, which is also redesigned for 2007. The ES uses a 272-hp V-6.

The GS sport sedan adds more power thanks to a bigger V-6 in the base GS 350. The GS 430 comes with a 4.3-liter V-8, and the new GS 450h flits from zero to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds thanks to a 339-hp gas/electric hybrid drivetrain.

Other Lexus models include the compact IS sport sedan and the GX, LX and RX SUVs. The RX 350 receives a larger 270-hp V-6, and a hybrid RX 400h is also available. The SC 430 hardtop convertible competes with the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and Cadillac's XLR.
